About

Woodbury's Earth Day celebration has been a beloved community event for over three decades.

Like the original Earth Day celebrated in America in 1970, Woodbury’s version of Earth Day has evolved over time. Originally organized by New Morning Market, almost 31 years ago, the event started as a small gathering in their parking lot at their original location in Middle Quarter Mall.  As interest and participation grew, New Morning Market worked with the town and community partners to move the event to Hollow Park in 2012, providing space for more exhibits, vendors, and activities.

In 2016 the event was presented under the leadership of the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and in 2024, Woodbury Parks and Recreation assumed the event leadership role.

Over the years it has grown to attract upwards of 5000 attendees from across the region and has evolved into Connecticut's largest Earth Day celebration and remains a cornerstone of the community's environmental efforts.  The 2025 event marks 55 years of global Earth Day awareness and 31 years of Woodbury's dedicated celebrations, embracing the theme "Our Power, Our Planet."
